More spinning

I survived my exams! I’ve only got 2 french exams left, and I have 8 days off before them. I’ve been enjoying having some time to knit and spin!

I finished spinning my brown roving from my LYS and it’s a little uneven, but I’ve gotten a lot better. The skein is really little, so I’m thinking maybe I can use it as edging on a hat or mittens. (On Ravelry here)

Since I’ve finished that up, I’ve started spinning some white roving and it’s much more even than the brown yarn I spun. I actually added a few washers to the top of my spindle (I have a top-whorl) and the yarn is working out to be about fingering weight. (On Ravelry here)

I made some progress this week on my baby sweater. I’ve finished both sleeves and I just started putting all of the pieces together and working the raglan increases. (On Ravelry here)

I’ve put this sweater aside for a bit to work up this pattern as a test knit. I just have the sleeve edgings and the finishing left to do, and it looks so cute! (On Ravelry here).

I’ll be linking with Small Things tomorrow and Frontier Dreams today! Have a great week!

  1. del del

I can’t spin (yet) so I’m always in awe of anyone who does. Love the yarn! And that little sweater is so cute; those colors work so well together.

    • Thanks! I just started, and it’s actually easier than I expected. I wasn’t too sure about the colour combination, but it actually ended up working really well… I can’t wait to see it with the hood!

  2. Love the spinning. I bought a drop spindle and then got discouraged. I need to find the time to try again! Love that baby sweater too, it is so cute!

    • Thanks! It’s frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of the motions you need, it’s pretty easy. Keep trying πŸ™‚

  3. It’s so fun to watch new spinners and how quickly their skills progress! It makes it very tempting to jump in and give it a shot. Almost. πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

    • Thanks! Yep, it’s another one of those things… I’m actually impressed I haven’t accumulated a fibre stash yet!
