In which I have a kitchen!

I don’t think you realize how much you use something (like your kitchen) until you can’t use it anymore. Since I’m living a dorm, I have a cafeteria, but no kitchen at all… so these few weeks at home are amazing. A few things we’ve made over the past few days:

Gingerbread houses, baked and decorated (with only some minor structural problems)!

Little heart shortbreads, fresh out of the oven- more on these tomorrow!

Fruitcake (known here as “Christmas cake”)… I actually baked this when I was home at Thanksgiving and it’s been basted with sherry since then. I put the marmalade and marzipan on today and I’ll do the icing next weekend so that it has time to harden before Christmas eve.

Knitting wise, another WIP- a Turn A Square hat for D. A bit last minute, but it’s knitting up pretty quickly so I think it should be done in time. It’s my first time knitting this pattern, and I’m really liking it so far. (Rav link).

I’ll be back tomorrow to share some FOs. In the meantime, have a great day!
