I finished my Cabled Canuck last night… it feels good to have something off the needles for the 2014 Ravellenics! That’s why I picked the hat for my first project- I knew it would be a quick knit. My next project is going to be the Maeva Socks, which are going to take a bit longer.

I really love how this hat turned out! The yarn I used is Rocky Mountain Dyeworks Troll Falls Worsted in Bronzite, and the colour is perfect for this hat. I forgot to switch to the larger needles after the ribbing so the hat is a bit snug- it fits, but I’ll probably use 5mm needles for the body next time and I will also probably go down to a 4mm for a 4.5mm for the ribbing so get the edge to but a bit more snugly.

Thanks H for helping me out with the photos for this!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend! Let me know in the comments what you’re knitting for the Ravellenics!

  1. That is such a beautiful hat, and such perfect weather.

    • Thanks! It’s definitely perfect weather for hats… (but I’m ready for spring soon!).

  2. Gorgeous! I love the yarn colour!

    • Thanks! I found your blog last week through Liesl and I loved it… your photos are gorgeous. I’ll definitely breading regularly!

  3. It looks great 🙂 I’ve added the pattern to my library. It’ll be a while before I get around to knitting myself a hat (we’re in summer at the moment) but that looks like a good one!

    • Thanks Ruth! I love winter and snow, but I’d love to trade some of it for your summer right about now!

  4. That was quick! It is a great hat, will queue that one up for future reference. Go you!!

    • Thanks! I’m glad it came together so quickly!

  5. I just love those tangles of cables! The hat looks great, and you finished in record time! Hopefully, your socks will go as quickly!

  6. Nice! Makes me feel that my first finished Ravellenics object (pics in my latest blog post) isn’t such an achievement – it was arm knitting, so took no time. Now back to the men’s size 13 slippers I’m trying to get done. We’ll see if I can do it :S
