Reading and knitting

Boneyard shawl

Boneyard and bag

This week, I’ve been…

Knitting :: Although it’s in the boring, really-long-row stage, I’ve been squeezing in a few rows on my Spring Boneyard shawl whenever I can. I’ll probably do one more colour repeat and then cast off- it’s getting to be long enough.

Reading :: This House is Haunted, by John Boyne. I read most of this when we were camping a few weeks ago, and I’ve only got a few chapters left. It’s not something I would normally pick up, but I love the historic setting. I also started reading Such a Long Journey by Rohinton Mistry on that trip. I’m only a few chapters in, but since it’s my first Mistry novel, I’m excited to keep reading!
I finished The Feast Nearby by Robin Mather this week, and I really loved it- the combination of essays and recipes was exactly what I needed for a quick summer read, and I have so many of the recipes bookmarked to try!

What have you been knitting and reading this week?

  1. Beautiful blues…very pretty yarn you chose.

  2. those long boring rows towards the end of a project are always the hardest and the longest! I really like the soft blues of the shawl, it looks lovely!

  3. I’ve had the Feast Nearby on my to-read list for quite awhile now. Glad to hear that it’s good!

  4. that shawl is super pretty!! love those light blue <3 i'm working on a scarf right now, so for me it's short rows but a lot of them!

  5. That looks lovely – the blues work so well together.
I’ve been busy knitting socks and have a couple of books on the go – now I just need to figure out how to read and knit at the same time!

  6. A fellow Canadian! I always get so excited by that. haha

I love the blues in your shawl. So pretty! šŸ™‚

I am finishing up the second sock for my husband’s birthday which was…well, a while ago. I just finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird again. Love that book! Not sure what’s next.

  7. Well, now I’m totally intrigued by the Amazon description of This House is Haunted. Really not my typical read but then, neither is “Dracula” which I so adored last fall. I just put it on my list of library books to look for in a couple weeks when I’m really ready for spooky autumn books. šŸ™‚

And those blues – they’re really lovely!
