WIP: Socktober

In the (hopefully triumphant?) return of the weekly knitting posts, this week, I’ve been…

Knitting :: My October socks for Liesl’s sock challenge! I finished my September socks last month and I’ll be sharing photos of them later this week. The October socks are another pair of my favourite plain sock pattern and the yarn is Lana Grossa Meilenweit. I love this colourway… it might be my favourite self-striping colourway ever.

Reading :: The Birth House by Ami McKay. This is a historical fiction novel based in Nova Scotia about a young midwife, and I’m loving it so far! I’m reading it on my kindle when I have a moment between classes or waiting in line somewhere, so it’s going a bit slowly, but I can’t wait to finish it!

Lord of the Flies by William Golding. This is one of the classics that I somehow missed out on reading in high school. I’ve just begun, but I keep hearing such strong reactions to this book that I’m excited to see what I think of it.

What have you been knitting and reading lately?

Linking up with KCCO and Yarn-Along.

  1. the colors on that sock are awesome!! especially love the little pops of turquoise! I badly need some self stripping to join my stash!

  2. Those socks are beautiful! Reminds me I should probably get some back on the needles – I used to be a prolific sock knitter, but that has been flagging a little…hmm… now where is that sock yarn?

  3. Such a pretty color way…knitting on the round like that still terrifies me- is it difficult?
    Happy Knitting.

  4. that yarn is beautiful. I’m going to have to find some of that!

  5. The colors in that yarn are so pretty! I read The Birth House a few years ago and I really enjoyed it!

  6. I’ll add a strong opinion to Lord of the Flies…. UGH! haha! I read it for pleasure but it wasn’t so pleasurable. Love those socks! I need to do some socks here soon and will be favoriting that pattern!

  7. The socks are looking great! And yes, that is a great striping colorway. πŸ™‚
I’ve read Birth House and enjoyed it. Hope you get more time to indulge in reading it. I missed out on reading Lord of the Flies in school as well. I only have a vague idea of what it’s about. Maybe I can work it into some down time this winter. Curious to hear what you think about it int he end!

  8. I know what you mean. Sewing in ends is the ugly side of knitting and ceohcrt. The bit they don’t really tell you about in books… I hate it until you get to that last end. The last one I can cope with πŸ™‚
