I’ve finally finished my exams and final papers, so I can start sharing some of my Christmas knitting! First up is this hat I made for my friend L. I’ve had my eye on this pattern for awhile and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I shortened the ribbing by 1″ but added an extra inch of the broken rib pattern to make up the length. It feels a bit early for Christmas gifts but since L is going away with his family for the holidays, I wanted to make sure he got his gift before he left.

Have you finished your Christmas knitting yet? Or are you like me, frantically knitting until Christmas eve?

  1. That’s a great guy hat. And, I’ve been meaning to tell you (but figured you were really busy with school work) that there is a knitting group that meets every week on campus in the GSU building (16 Bancroft St. is the address, I think). It was started by grad students, but everyone is welcome. It’s Thursday night from 6-7 in the downstairs lounge. I am the “captain” of the meeting (meaning I get the coffee ready), so you should stop by if you have the time!

    • Oh, I had seen a poster for that on campus awhile ago but thought it was only for grad students!
I’m away until after Christmas but I will definitely drop by in the new year! Sounds like so much fun- I’ve always wished there were a knitting group on campus.

      • There’s a Facebook group for the UTGSU Knit Wits that you can join to stay up to date. I’ll let you know if the meeting time changes next semester. I think there will be a big Knit Night event coming up in January, too, which should be a good time as well.

      • Great- will do 🙂

  2. How very nice and thoughtful of you, I bet he loves it!

    • Thanks Christina! How is your holiday knitting going?

  3. Nice that you could already share some holiday knits! Lovely hat and it looks like a perfect fit. The recipient looks very pleased with it as well 🙂

    • Thanks! I’m also glad he liked it so much 🙂

    • Glad to hear it’s not just me 🙂

  4. Great hat!
I’ve been busy with end of term stuff too, so I’ll definitely be knitting up until the wire!
