I whipped up another quick project bag using Shannon’s tutorial at the end of the Christmas break, because I never seem to have enough bags for all of the projects I’m working on. The fabric is from my mum’s stash- isn’t that bottom print so pretty?

And what better to go in a new project bag than a new project? I needed something really simple to work on after so many weeks of intense Christmas knitting, so I cast on a pair of plain vanilla socks using some leftover yarn from a Christmas gift (pictures of the gift to come later!). I added a couple of grey stripes at the top for interest.

What’s your favourite project bag pattern or shop? I’m always on the lookout for new ones!

  1. I found one of my favorite small project bags just recently at Target ((!!??!!)) of all places. I think it’s supposed to be a pencil case, but has a great zippered pocket (for ‘tools’) and a large zip-closed section just the right size for a pair of socks or a baby hat. Love the bags you have made!!!!

  2. Such pretty fabric. I wish I knew how to sew!

  3. Such clever projects- I bet that sweet bag comes in handy- great idea. Beautiful rich colors on your knits.

  4. I desperately need a new, smaller project bag, too, for my socks. Unfortunately, I am not very good at sewing at all. I always check out cosmetic bags on sale at Winner’s to see if there’s something that would work. 😉
I also wanted to let you know that the Knit Wits meet ups are starting up again: Thursday nights 6:30-7:30 or Wednesday afternoon 1-2pm. (You can find me at the Thursday evening meetings.)

Great- my roommate and I will try to come tonight, so long as it’s okay that we’re both undergrads? Excited to meet some more knitters.

Yes, hurray! Everyone is welcome at all skill levels.

  5. Beautiful bag, I wish I had even half the talent with a sewing machine as I do with knitting needles, I always seem to be short on project bags too … thankfully my MIL is amazing with a sewing machine has occasionally a new bag shows up when we go visit.

  7. What a pretty bag! My favorite bag is one I got from Storied Yarns on Etsy. It’s a fabric with the Deathly Hallows symbol on it.

  8. Love your fabric, I need to make one of these! 🙂

  9. Super pretty bag! I only have a couple of bags, so usually my projects are homeless unfortunately.

I put all my individual knitting projects in the litte paper shopping bags with handles that I get here and there – Hallmark, Starbucks, Yankee Candle, etc. etc. I have them sitting in a big bin in my family room!
