As I think I’ve mentioned here before, our apartment can get pretty chilly. Even when the heat’s working properly, it’s a pretty old house and the basement is the coldest floor. I find my hands are always so cold when I’m doing computer work, so when I saw Leslie’s little collection of gloves a few weeks ago, I knew I had to make a pair for myself.

I am so pleased with how they turned out! They fit perfectly, they were so easy to make, and they keep my hands nice and toasty! The yarn I used is Rocky Mountain Dyeworks Troll Falls Worsted in Bronzite, which is perfect for this pattern. Rocky Mountain has been discontinued, but Hasmi now sells her yarns as Raventwist, and is still one of my favourite Canadian dyers.

Big thanks to HX for helping me take photos of these!

      Thanks Karen 🙂

  2. Kat Kat

Gorgeous! I love the color, too. I just finished a pair of fingerless mitts myself, but seeing all these Toasty FOs around, I might have to make a pair too!

Thanks Kat! I really enjoyed the pattern- I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot.

  3. I became aware of just how ice cold my hands are right now as I’m typing this comment. Old house dweller here, too. Somehow, I’ve never really thought of making something like this!

Thanks Jordanna! Old houses are lovely but the heating tends to be a bit unreliable… handknits to the rescue 🙂

  4. Okay, I’ve seen them posted 3 different times now this week – I HAVE to make some!
I have been meaning to make some fingerless gloves for a while – this may have just prompted me!

  5. Fingerless mitts are the best thing ever, and these are really beautiful!

  6. Love the mitts, especially in this color!
Also adore that polar bear (?) shirt. 🙂

  7. SRB SRB

Gorgeous colour. I recently made a hooded cowl for a friend in a very similar colour (though it was likely something like a Cascade chunky).

I’ve never tried fingerless mitts, but I do have enough left (I think!) in this colour…Hmmmm 😉
