Knitting lately

I always gravitate towards smaller projects during the summer… too warm to have a large project sitting on my lap, I guess. It’s a good opportunity to get a head start on some holiday knitting as well. I’ve just finished my first Christmas gift of the year, some dishcloths for my grandmother. I’ve been making her a set each Christmas for years now, and she always uses them, so I keep making them. No matter how early I start my Christmas knitting, though, I always spend December knitting furiously, so despite the early start, I don’t have high hopes of finishing my gifts any earlier. I’m currently knitting a pair of lattice socks as a sample for my first show for my hand-dyed yarn. Since purple is my favourite colour, I just had to do them in this colourway. (Rav link)

(Currently reading Meridian by Alice Walker – heavy but poignant, as Walker does.)

What have you been knitting lately?

Linking up with KCCO and Yarn-Along.

      Thanks Karen!
It’s taking me awhile, but I’m slowly catching up on reading blog posts. I hope you’re well!

  2. That is a lovely stack of dishcloths! I can see why your grandmother loves them! I never decide to make Christmas gifts until December, so kudos. 🙂 Those socks are a gorgeous color!

  3. I love knitting dishcloths too! I’ve reached the point where my mom has actually asked me to stop making them, simply because she is beginning to run out of room!

really really need to get working on my christmas projects as well!!

  5. I also gravitate towards smaller projects during summer, currently working on a shawl and having a real craving for casting on some socks. I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas gifts yet, but you make a very valid point, and starting now would actually be incredibly smart!

I love those dishcloths! It’s so nice that your grandmother uses and loves your knitted washcloths. I like the idea of small projects in summer, but I always end up working on sweaters and shawls anyway!
