Lately, I’ve been…

Knitting :: My red brick cardigan (the pattern is Grace by Jane Richmond). It doesn’t look like I’ve made a lot of progress this week, but I had to rip back to fix a mistake in the lace. So even though there isn’t much more cardigan, I have spent lots of time working on it! I’m just past the yoke and a few inches into the body section. I’m using Malabrigo Sock in Boticelli Red, which has made for enjoyable knitting.

Reading :: Food and the City by Jennifer Cockrall-King, which I just started this afternoon. I’m excited to get into it, as a book about food politics that considers barriers to food access is a refreshing change from some books I’ve read recently. I’m still working on The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes, but I finished both Vinyl Cafe Turns the Page and The Magician’s Nephew this week, both of which I really enjoyed.

Listening :: to a few podcasts, especially Serial, This American Life, and CBC’s The House. I’m thinking about giving Lore a try, because I keep hearing good things – have any of you listened to it?

What have you been knitting and reading this week?

Linking up with KCCO and Yarn Along.

  1. The cardigan looks beautiful. Great color choice.

Thank you Jill! Malabrigo has such wonderful colours, don’t they?

  2. I love the Malabrigo you’re working with. That color is fantastic. Well I was knitting a sock for my dad but was afraid it would turn out too snug. After asking for help from an expert sock knitter/blogger friend, I need to test out her suggestions. Maybe i won’t have to frog after all? And as for reading, I was in the mood for young adult fiction: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Uncommon Criminals, and The Black Circle.

Thanks Stefani! Crossing my fingers that you can salvage the sock and not have to rip out. And that sounds like a wonderful reading list 🙂

  3. Re-knitting lace is always a bit of a pain…. but what a fantastic colour you’re using! It’s going to be lovely.

Thanks Caroline! Yes- but worth it in the end 🙂

  4. Oh, the color of yarn is just precious! It will be a stunning cardigan!

Thanks Alina! It’s such a perfect red. Happy Friday 🙂

  5. The cardigan looks beautiful! I love the texture of what i’m guessing is the lace section.

I really enjoy Lore (I also love Serial too, so maybe if you like that one, you’ll enjoy Lore too 🙂 but I’ve found that I can’t listen to the creepier episodes at night. Really fascinating mix of history and storytelling.
