I just finished this cute little vest a few weeks ago for one of my favourite children’s garment designers, Madeleine. I knit the 3 month size, because there are at least 3 friends expecting babies in the next six months or so, so I needed to get started on the newborn gifts! This one is for a little boy who will be arriving sometime in July, so the shorter sleeves will be perfect for the warmer weather. The pattern was so quick and easy, and I can definitely see this becoming one of my go-to patterns for baby gifts, especially as it’s so versatile for layering. The simplicity of the garter stitch is beautiful and really lets the yarn and the buttons shine – I had such a hard time choosing buttons because I wanted them to be perfect! H and I went through several jars of buttons, trying to find matching ones and trying different colour combinations, and I’m pleased with the green we settled on.

All of the details are on my Ravelry page.

The pattern is not yet available but should be soon – I will update this post when it is.

I hope you have all have a fantastic weekend with lots of knitting time!

That is so cute! I love the garter stitch with the short little sleeves and buttons-this looks like such a great, flexible baby patten 😀

Thanks Kat! It’s a great pattern and I can definitely see myself coming back to it for future baby knits!
