Lately, I’ve been…

Knitting :: My sunrise cardi, which I think will be perfect for the warm weather that has arrived here! The pattern is lovely and from the book H got me for Christmas this year. The yarn I’m using is Knit Picks Palette in the colour finnley heather – the colour is nice and I think it’s one that I will get a lot of wear out of.

Reading :: I’m about halfway through both Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Big Magic is a fun read – I’m not sure I agree with her general mindset, but it’s so fascinating to read about the author’s creative process. The Butler book is a post-apocalyptic novel, and it’s superbly written. Definitely the most chilling book I’ve read recently. I also picked up Bread Alone from the library yesterday and I can understand why it’s so well-loved. Hopefully it will be the missing piece in learning to bake the perfect sourdough!

Listening :: To the Spirits podcast, which is a short, fun show about mythology and legends from around the world. And to this playlist, which is the perfect mood for me right now – quiet but upbeat.

Planting :: The first seeds of the season – tomatoes, lettuce and spinach!

What have you been up to this week?

Linking up with KCCO and Yarn Along.

  1. I have struggled with sourdough for years. I keep my house too cool for it to succeed, on my wish list is a proofing box. Someday. But, until then, I bake the bread I know works well in my environment. As always, your photos are spectacular! Thank you!

  2. How patient you are to knit a cardigan in fingering. That looks like lovely yarn. I haven’t used that fingering line before. Ahhh, bread. I automatically inhale at the word. I haven’t tried sourdough yet. I have made peasant bread which has given us a delightful outcome.

  3. I’ll have to check out that podcast, sounds interesting! lovely knitting!

  4. Beautiful pictures! Loving your knitting so far and a little jealous at the planting part. Its getting really cold down here all of a sudden. 🙁 I am currently pulling out the last of my summer veggies.

  5. I’m working on a cardigan with Palette, as well! It’s my first fingering weight sweater, so we’ll see how it goes. 🙂
